My New Favourite Thing

 It is amazing, isn't it, that I have five blogs (5!) and I still cannot say everything I want to, in any of them. On this blog I am reluctant to say as much as I would have, because I am known by a few people who read it. On other blogs there is a totally different theme and agenda so some things might be inappropriate, or just irrelevant.

That is why I like this blog.  It reads to me like a conversation I would have with some of my crazy friends. It has no airs and does not welcome pretentiousness. And the fact that these are AFRICAN WOMEN, speaking happily about a topic that is still considered too sacrosanct for them to even acknowledge, is amazing. The topic by the way is SEX.

I was introduced to the blog by a friend of mine- one minute silence for the abrupt death of that friendship- who sent the link, probably to reveal his true intentions on one hand, and to get the URL for my own blog, on the other. Whatever the reason, he unleashed a monster. I have applied to be a contributor; I hope I will be allowed to.

I've really grown Years ago I would never have been that brave or honest. When I turned 30, within me I was quite sad. I felt , 'ok, here goes the trip over the hill'. But 30 is a magical number.                                                          source I sometimes sit to watch cartoons with my 4 year old daughter; half the time she blackmails me into spending the time with her , and the other half of the time I tell myself I am 'monitoring' what she is watching. As far as TV offerings go, the children's stations have quite the fare: Princess Sophia, Ben 10, Batman, Dora the Explorer, Jake the (I forget what), Sheriff Callie, Scooby Doo, Sponge Bob, and so on. Independence Matters

Wazzap, I promised you two stories emanating from this weekend so here goes the second. I was in a supermarket on Saturday ,to do a bit of shopping for cosmetics, when I ran into an old boss of mine . At that meeting, he seemed quite happy to see me and even offered to pay for my purchases. Then the usual questions emerged: where are you now/ what do you do now? I was so happy to hand him my business card, as my present job is a departure from where I used to be. I could see that his respect grew when I told him what it was I did, and what kind of car I drive now- although, my darlings, I embellished the story a bit.
